Develor Consulting Ltd. has been market leader for several years in the areas of training and HR consultancy services. In addition to offering training programs, the company is also the largest coaching firm on the market, and provides consultancy services aimed at increasing the effectiveness of training.
Develor offers measurable improvement to its clients by providing training courses and supplementary services that have long-term, positive impact on behaviour. This impact can be measured based on the employees’ level of knowledge and skills as well as in actual business results.
“He who holds a hammer in his hand tends to look upon everything as a nail”, as the saying goes. It is precisely this ingrained attitude that Develor’s diverse product portfolio attempts to counter, by providing the most appropriate solution to clients’ problems in every situation. Increasingly, this solution may take a form other than training.
Develor develops its products independently, and continuously updates the methodology, theoretical modules and practical components of its training courses by drawing on the latest knowledge available. Each year the company launches several new products that are entirely unique on the market in order to satisfy and even anticipate client needs. Today the company offers its clients more than 50 different training courses, 10 complex development programs that incorporate a variety of methodological approaches, as well as a wide selection of customised coaching services.
In 2005 the company held more than 2,300 days of training. The high quality of the training that was delivered could only be guaranteed through the continuous training, controlling and evaluation of the company’s 40 trainers. One of the most important guarantees of training and trainer quality is a carefully developed quality assurance system, which our clients can witness themselves in the course of each co-operative encounter. The trainers are assisted in their work by 30 support staff: training assistants, an administrative team and key account managers.

The Hungarian training market
The Hungarian training market is one of the most developed markets in the central and east European region. Our clients’ needs have developed considerably over the past few years. Today we can safely say that expectations with regard to training courses and training companies have reached western European levels.
The training market and training as a discipline began to emerge at the start of the 1990s, after the change of political system, and have since undergone many changes. Over the same period several notable training firms have disappeared from the market, while others have significantly transformed themselves. Starting from 2000 the need for organised training that results in real change, and the need for measuring this change, has increased markedly.
We only have estimates for the size of the overall training market: companies operating in the country spend approximately HUF 7-8 billion a year on purchasing training for their employees from specialised providers. The primary reason for the recent growth of the market is that an increasing number of companies are becoming aware of the necessity and usefulness of training, and the funds available through the tenders of the National Development Plan have increased companies’ purchasing power in this regard. Most of the training programs available continue to focus on sales and customer service skills, and on improving management competencies.
In response to the growing expectations of clients, a few players in the market offer tools other than training as a solution for overcoming organisational problems or achieving and providing support for company objectives. Demand for complex and accurately measurable solutions is expected to grow in the future.
Several hundred trainers and training companies compete on the Hungarian training market. Most of the market players are freelance professionals. Companies with an income in excess of HUF 100 million are considered to be the most significant. A few of these achieve revenues of about HUF 200-300 million. Develor, with an income of more than HUF 1 billion, is the market leader.
